Borchalou Carpets : The name of carpets woven in the town of Borchalou in Northwestern Persia, east of the city Hamadan. Borchalou rugs are the best in the region of Hamadan, because shiny wool of very good quality is used to weave them. The weave is delicate and complex. Their fine curvilinear designs with traditional round medallions instead of rhombi make them stand out. The wide borders filled with flowers create a wonderful frame for the central designs of the rugs. The colors vary and are dominated by shades of red, blue, turquoise and orange.
Hamadan Carpets : The city of Hamadan is situated in the Northwestern part of Iran, 300 kilometres west of Tehran. It is one of the oldest cities in the world and is referred to in the Bible with the name Ekvatana. The city is a gathering place and trade centre for the carpets woven in hundreds of nearby villages and towns. Many of the carpets are sold under their own names, such as Nahavand, Tuiserkan, Malayer, Hosseinabad, Burchalow, Enjilas, Lilihan, Khamse and Zanjan. The simplest carpets of the area are sold under the name of Hamadan. Each village has got its own style in weaving carpets with their own designs and colors. In most Hamadan carpets they use high quality wool and a variety of colors. The colors are herbal and various shades of blue indigo and shades of red dominate the carpet.
Nomadic carpets: Carpets woven by nomads. Nomads move continuously and do not stay permanently in one geographic region. They manufacture (weave) handmade carpets on collapsible looms. Due to that fact there may be slight variations in weaving and their carpets are sometimes uneven in shape. Also the weaving is made from memory and it depends on each artisans momentary inspiration. As a result, the designs in some carpets are not even on the entire surface.
All CarpetU2 carpets are subject to cleaning with high quality antibacterial and moth protection products according to Persian law.
Abrash: Due to the different amount of grease in the wool and the added salt during the process of dyeing, the wool has got a varying colour absorbance. This is not very visible before weaving. During the weaving though, lines of the same colour are formed in the carpet. This is called Abrash (which in Farsi means little cloud) and it shows that the wool was not manufactured using chemical means and marks the naturalness and authenticity of the carpets. Examples
